About psychotherapy

People seek therapy for many different reasons, usually when they are not happy with aspects of their lives.

You may lack a sense of well-being or have a desire for greater self-knowledge and insight into the cause of your distress and anxiety.

How will I know if a counsellor or psychotherapist is properly qualified to help me?

Organisations such as the BACP and the United Kingdom of Psychotherapy (UKCP) have registers of counsellors and psychotherapists. The UKCP has a national register of practitioners who meet the professional training and practice requirements of the UKCP and subscribe to their Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Psychotherapy can help with a wide range of problems, such as Abuse, Addictions, Anger, Rage & Aggression, Anxiety, Childhood trauma, Compulsive behaviour, Cultural identity, Dependency, Depression, Domestic violence, Fears, Loss & Bereavement, Marriage problems, Meaninglessness & futility of life, Panic attacks, Paranoid thoughts, Phobias, Relationship difficulties, Self esteem, Self harm, Sexuality & Sexual difficulties, Stress, Suicidal thoughts, Trust & Jealousy, Work related stresses
